I think the place he's likely to have served is RAF Sealand (RAF = Royal Air
Force).
I come from the Deeside area and back in the 1970s I worked as a local
national for the Stars & Stripes US Army newspaper in Griesheim, Germany. While I
was there I remember talking to a guy who had been based at Sealand, if not
during the war, then not long after. He referred to it as Sealand so it looks
like there hasn't been a name change since then.
RAF Sealand is still there, but only just. I think it may be closing some
time next year.
