First of all, you need to know as much about your serviceman as possible -
name, which branch of the military he served, which unit, where in the U.S.
he lived, etc. Check the local library, maybe they would have some
information on which American units served in Deeside, or could point you in
the right direction.
This is the National Archives (of the U.S.) website for vet records. World
War II vet records are stored in a huge warehouse in St. Louis, MO and I
think the records are restricted to the vet himself or his/her immediate
family. Reason: Although they are dying off at a rapid rate, many are
still living and the Privacy Act probably prevents you from obtaining any
information on a living (or potentially still living) person.

Subject: [FLN] US Serviceman from WW2
Hi Listers,
I'm looking for information about a WW2 American serviceman. I don't know
which services he was with, just that he was in the Deeside area, so I guess
was in the US Air Force. Were the other services deployed around this area?
Could anyone give me hints as to where I can get information about this
serviceman, and how I can trace him back to the US?
Your help would be gratefully appreciated!
Jonathan
