Doreen and John
Thank you for your reply
I am a little confused - when you say "they seem to be all there" in
1861 census, which of my missing families are you referring to - I
thought part of the census for Ysceifiog was simply unavailable. Or are
you referring to baptisms rather than census records??
The ones I'm after in 1861 census are:
BULY : William and wife Elizabeth, both born about 1802 Ysceifiog, plus
any children
WILLIAMS: Abel and wife Hannah both born about 1831 (Abel in Halkyn /
Hannah in Ysc)
JOHN WILLIAMS- burial
The information about Caroline Williams baptism is particularly helpful
- I thought she would have been baptised earlier than 1838, so maybe the
age I have for her on the 1841 census of 7 is incorrect? If her father
John Williams (miner / Dafarn Dywyll) was still alive then, it narrows
his death down to between 1838 and pre 1841 census ?? Presumably buried
at Holywell if children all christened there, and maybe married to
Elizabeth there too around 1825?
Best wishes
Amanda

Hi Amanda
You should purchase the Clwyd Family History Society Transcriptions,
they seem to be all there.
All the children were baptized in Holywell. Thomas was baptized 1826
Apr 21, and Caroline was baptized 1838 Sept 14. John was Miner.

John Williams - this is all I know about him, and am hoping someone can
add to it anywhere !
* Probably born around 1794
* Miner
* Married Elizabeth .... (b Llangernyw 1794 ish)
* Probably married about 1825
* First child Thomas born about 1826 Holywell / John (1827)
Holywell / others from 1828 state place of birth as Halkyn
* Family lived at Dafarn Dywyll, Halkin until 1857 when
Elizabeth died
* Children baptised Holywell church from what I have seen.
* John died sometime before 1841 census as wife Elizabeth at
Dafarn Dywyll, widowed with 8 children
* Youngest child born about 1833 so presumably John died between
1832 - 1841 ?
* Children's names: Thomas / John / Evan / Abel / Isaac / Eliza
/ Edwin / Caroline

John has advised that part of ysceifiog in 1861 is missing (see below).
This could explain why another of my families is proving elusive in
1861.
In 1851 my Buly line was living in Penucharplwyi (William Buly, wife
Elizabeth, both born Ysceifiog about 1802, plus children.)
In 1871 I know William has died, and I think his wife is misspelt as
Elizabeth "Baly" - can anyone let me know the full details for this
entry - also at Penucharplwyi. Two of their children, Hannah (now
Williams) and Thomas Buly are living with their families at Silver Rake
Penucharplwyi, Ysc.
In 1861 can anyone find any trace of any of the Buly's in Ysceifiog - if
not I suspect they are part of missing records, as I don't believe any
of them moved far from the area listed as Penucharplwyi (various
spellings on Ancestry including Pennacharfiwy")
Many thanks
Amanda

If Silver Rake is part of RG9/4270, that has parts missing and could be
the
reason why they cannot be found.
