Hello Flintshire listers! I am a new member trying to find out information
on a William Jones, which I have come to realize, will be like looking for a
needle in a haystack. Never realized how common a name to Wales that Jones
was!
I have this William Jones on the 1851 census at "Swan", Whitford,
Flintshire. 47 years of age, born in Whitford, an innkeeper.
In 1841, I have a David Jones, Publican, who has a 25 year old son living
with him and they are also at "Swan". I am assuming that "Swan" is
the name
of an Inn?
On the 1851 census, there is an Anthony Artis listed as a visitor and I
think he might be the nephew of William. Anthony Artis' father, Charles
Dillon Artis, married an Anne Jones and I am hoping this William may have
been her brother.
Would anyone have access to the 151 and 1861 census for Flintshire that
would be willing to look for this David Jones. In 1841, he was 55 as was
his wife Mapescilene (or at least that's what it looks like to me! but my
senior eyes ain't what they used to be!)
Also, if anyone else has any info on this Jones family I'd love to hear from
them. I could fill them in on Anne Jones after her marriage to Charles
Artis.
