Having tried obvious Cornish sites, I wonder if there is some kind person in
a more general area of UK that may have this family in their tree.
I have a marriage certificate 22.12.1847 Parish of Lannarth Cornwall for
Joseph Jennings aged 22 Bachelor Miner Lannarth
Father: Jonnthan (Jonathan)? Jennings Miner
Alice Rogers aged 22 Spinster
Lannarth Father: Thomas Rogers
Miner
Unable to find in Cornwall a Joseph born/baptised to this father named
Jonathan, nor can I find a Jonathan born in Cornwall late 1700s.
Closest I have to a Joseph son of Jonathan, is a Halkyn Flint baptism for a
Joseph 1825, son of Jonathan Jennings & Catherine Holman, a brother William
born 1827 same place. Since found marriage of Jonathan & Catherine also
Halkyn Flint, no parent details
A researcher of Cornish Miners in Wales, gave me parents details of Jonathan
& Catherine as being: Joseph Jennings & Catherine Jones, Nathaniel Holman &
Johanna Northway. Have not been able to contact him further, marriage
certificate gives no such information, and have not been able to discover
any links ie: Marriages, births etc. in fact cannot even find a Johanna
Northway anywhere (well certainly not where I have been looking)
A Jonathan & Catherine Jennings had a son Jonathan baptised Gwennap 1831, no
sign of either Jonathan snr or jnr by 1841 Cornwall Census, only a Catherine
Jennings Widow and sons Joseph 15 William 12 and an unknown Edwin 5.
Loosely assume this is the remaining family.
Freebmd shows a Catherine Jennings death 1842, cannot trace William at all.
Assume that the Joseph in the census is the same one as in the marriage
certificate. Only problem is 1841 Cornwall Census shows all born in County.
So am quite confused.
If any kind person has perhaps these people in their tree, or similar, would
love to hear from them. Would love to be able to topple that old brick wall
in 2009.
Happy New Year to everyone....................rgds and good luck Coral
