I have been on the phone today to the Flintshire records office and
there is a BIG gap in Coroner's records. There is apparently an
investigation going on as to where they have disappeared to!!
This does not help me in anyway, but I have decided to take some time
off work to go to the records office and search through old newspapers
I have a copy of a death certificate I ordered as an other possible
match for my John. If anyone would like a copy I will forward.
Details
Registration District HOLYWELL
date 6TH OCTOBER 1878
Name JOHN JONES
Age 24 YEARS
Occupation COOPER ( JOURNEYMAN)
Informant EDWARD JONES Father in attendance FEATHERS STREET FLINT?

Hi Diane
It has taken a while due to other commitments, but I think you have
found my John. I know his Father was Robert ( Miner) and mother
unknown, but his child was called Catherine Elizabeth ( also Elizabeth
Catherine) and as one of the Grandmothers was Catherine you could
assume the other was Elizabeth. Searching all the census records, the
one you sent me details of fits with this and birth dates and fathers
occupation
I have just received the death certificate. John Died on 21st Dec 1878
At Baggillt station. he was 26 years old. He was accidentally killed
by a beam of an engine falling upon him!!. The Birth dates fit with
the census records you sent me
There was an inquest on 23 dec 1878 by Coroner Peter Parry. I am going
to try and find out how I can get more details on the inquest to see
if it gives a name of a wife. Johns Wife Hannah Bellis remarried in
1883 John Owens in Holywell. They moved to Birkenhead and had 2 further
children Robert and Sarah Ann Owens. The family knew nothing of this
and my Great Grandmother never mentioned a half Brother or Sister
Thank you for the information it has helped me find my elusive John
Regards
Sue
