Subject: [FLN] Some local knowledge required please
Hello,
I have joined your list in the hope of getting a clue as to how my
Warwickshire
ancestors happened to be in Flintshire in 1840.
My gt-gt grandfather Joseph ROBBINS & Elizabeth BILLINGTON got married by
special licence in their hometown of Warwick in April 1837.
In May 1838, their first son Joseph Billington ROBBINS was born at
Wavertree nr
Liverpool and baptized at Childwall. The father was described
as a servant.
They are next heard of in Mold, where their daughter Mary Susannah was
born in
March 1840. Joseph was described as a groom, of Hendrebiffa. By the
time of the 1841 census they had returned to Warwick and become innkeepers.
I wonder if they moved with an employer. Does anyone know if there were
any landed
gentry/business people? at Hendrebiffa with property or
connections in/near Wavertree or in Warwickshire?
Any information gratefully received.
MAR in France.
