Dear Natalie,
Thank you for thinking of my Roberts from Prestatyn.
I shall be very interested to see if he is a sailor or and tailor.
Kindest Regards
Sarah.

Hi Sarah,
I had some spare time so I took a trawl through the *unchecked* 1891
census file for Meliden, Rhuddlan and some of Rhyl. This piece covered
Prestatyn. I was looking for a Thomas Roberts, tailor and didn't find
one. However I did find a Thomas Roberts, head, widower, 70, sailor,
living in Meliden Parish. He had a servant, Susannah (forget the
surname) living with him, but no one else in the household. It is
possible that 'sailor' was misread for 'tailor', but I am doubtful and
without the fiche I cannot check yet. That file is away for the
checking procedure when a second person checks out the fiche and
transcription to pick up mistakes or help with interpretation of
hard-to-read words. That process is nearing completion now and I'm
hoping to get the file back for validation shortly. Then I can take a
second look to see whether it might conceivably be 'tailor'. One would
expect to find sailors in the area, of course.
I hope to get this file and its 'partner', the other half of Rhyl and
all of St Asaph, uploaded to the FreeCEN database before the end of
September but that depends on how soon I receive it. I'll keep your
email address and try to remember to get back to you.
Hwyl, Natalia
