I am trying to fill in a little more about my EVANS family.
My great great grandfather JOHN EVANS was born in Flint in 1792 to JOHN EVANS and
CATHERINE nee GRIFFITHS.
Two older siblings THOMAS born 1787 and CATHERINE born 1785. Twin girls born 1789 died in
infancy.
A younger brother EDWARD b 1794 and a sister, SARAH born 1797.
His mother died in 1798 and his father was paid Parish money to labour on the roads. JOHN
himself was also paid for by the Parish as a child. However there is no mention of what
happened to the other children nor any deaths for them.
John ended up in Macclesfield, Cheshire as a silk weaver by 1823. The odd thing is that he
was literate.
The EVANS family originated in Northop when they moved to Flint I do not know. John snr
was the son of THOMAS and ALICE EVANS.
Any ideas as to what happened to the others or why and how JOHN moved to Macclesfield
welcomed. Margaret
