Hello Bryn,
I only started this last night. My friend did mention that there was
supposedly an American connection, so maybe that's where the tale comes
from.
I have got back to a Francis Blackwell (c1804), married to a Leah Harrison.
I have found some of the children on the IGI. Their son Samuel, gave up the
lead mining, (probably a wise move), and settled in Liverpool as a sailor.
His daughter Leah Elizabeth Blackwell was born in 1874, registered in St
Asaph. She is my friend's gt Grandmother.
Thank you very much for your offer of help.
Diane

Hello,
I have been "collecting" Blackwells of Halkyn and elsewhere in Flintshire
for many years - my great-grandmother's family. I have many lists of them!
I have never heard of the Crosse & Blackwell connection but was involved in
much discussion by e-mail last year with someone in USA who was researching
"Henry Blackwell (1851-1928) noted bibliophile" in New Yor, and he was
descended from mine!
Should your friend want help with the Halkyn Blackwells then please do
contact me.
