I have a real puzzle I am hoping someone with a different approach / access to local
records (newspapers / ancestry) can help with:
The Facts:
Mary EVANS born 29 Feb 1864 (ie leap year) Mold. (Father = Francis Evans)
1871 census living at Tai Bowen, Mold, Flintshire with family (age 7).
1881 census probably living at Llangwyfan, Denbighshire as servant with Williams family
(age 17)
1891 / 1901 census ??? (possibly married)
Mary did marry / have children but do not know where/when/who
My mum knew her as "Auntie Mary from Wrexham" - could have been around Wrexham
area rather than centrally.
When Mary was 100 there was an article in a local paper (councillor or mayor present)
still active and looking after her daughter - would love a copy of this article - would
obviously be around Feb 1964.
Mary survived to about age 107 - don't know where died / buried as do not know
surname. Can't be many deaths around that part of the world in 1960's / 1970's
of someone that age???
To add to the puzzle:
One of Mary's daughters we think married into a Rees family from Pennal,
Merionethshire (other relatives of both families later married without realising a prior
connection) I would love to find the marriage:
If anyone can find Mary above for me, then there would be a surname for her daughter to
link her into one of the Rees brothers, and look for a marriage :
In 1891 census the three Rees brothers were living with their parents at Dolydderwen,
Pennal, Merionethshire (all born Pennal)
Llewelyn Rees age 9
David John Rees age 5
Albert Rees age 2
So a marriage between a Rees and Mary's daughter (assuming she was apporx same age )
would have been about 1900 - 1915?
Any help at all (particularly finding out a little more about "auntie Mary"
Many thanks
