Hi,
I am looking for any records that may exist for the Hawarden Boys School
in the period up to summer of 1909.
I had initially assumed that the current Hawarden High School was the
linear suiccessor of the boys school, but (not unusually) I was wrong.
A letter from Hawarden High School informs me that Hawarden Boys School
was a private school based in Hawarden Village and it had no direct link
with the County, Grammar and now High School based in Hawarden.
Does anyone know if any records for the boys school exist and if so
where they may have been deposited?
I have written to both the Arcive dept of Flintshire Council and also St
Deiniol's Library at Hawarden (had confirmation replies from them both
and am currently waitibg more substantive replies.
I have assumed that the Hawarden Boys School was a boarding school as
the relative that attended the school was from Aberdare, Glam, where his
mother lived whilst he attended the school. As she was a widow there is
a possibilty that it may have served some sort of charitable function also.
The relative in question is:
Wilfred Henry Barton WAIN, born 1900, left Hawarden Boys School in the
summer of 1909 to attend the Duke Of Yorks Royal military School, Dover
Any information on the school and or its records wouuld be very much
appreciated
