Can anyone help me breach my current brick walls?
Missing marriage
I have been unable to find the marriage of Joseph Peters and Mary Ann
Rogers. Perhaps they never married. Their children, Llewellyn (1856), Joseph
David (1857) and Agnes Mary (1859) were all born in Holywell and according
to the 1861 and 1871 census so was Mary Ann. Joseph Peters was born in
Hertingfordbury, Herts and was a publican at the at the Feathers Inn and was
also listed as the manager of a flannel woollen mill. Neither Joseph or
Mary Ann were on the 1851 census for Holywell.
The local register office searched for the marriage over a ten year period
from 1845 to 1955 without success. Neither could the GRO rind the marriage,
searching England and Wales index from 1850 - 1855.
On FreeB, there is a Peters marriage in the December quarter 1850 but the
transcriber was unable to read the Christian name. I would really appreciate
a look up if anyone has access to marriage registers for Holywell.
Missing sons
Joseph David Peters married Ellen Catherine Williams at Holywell on 23
August 1883
According to family lore, he died and Ellen remarried on 13 December 1894,
giving her marital status as widow. However I cannot find his death
registration despite trawling through the GRO index several times. Neither
can I find Llewelyn Peters on the 1901 census. Both were in the Liverpool
area so perhaps they went abroad.
Can anyone help me solve these puzzles, please?
