Dear Mavis,
Could you please add this request to your long list of look-up? I
don't mind waiting in the least, as I have not been able to find this
record on any of the films of Parish Records for the area. The
following is the information I have:
For the Marriage of John PARRY and Jemima JONES -
I searched 1Qtr 1846 Civil Registrations and hit pay dirt ( an answer to
prayer for guidance).
1) FHL film # 0512284 for 1Qtr 1846 (P to Z) contained
PARRY, John reg dist. Holywell, vol. xxvii, page 343
2) FHL Film # 0512283 for 1Qtr 1846 (A-O) contained
JONES, Jemima reg dist Holywell vol. xxvii, page 343
This record was not on the films I reviewed for the Parish Church of
Holywell, the non-conformist Churches in the Holywell and Whitford area
or on the film of the Parish Church of Whitford, as the marriages for
that year were not on these films. Could you please look this up for us
so we can confirm the father's names of both John and Jemima and then
maybe get a bit further back with our links?
When Jemima was born in July, 1825 and her sister Emma was born in
Febrary,1828, they were both baptised at the Parish Church in Whitford
by Edward Roberts, Vicar of Whitford. Their parents, Edward JONES and
his wife Jane, were farming at Creccas. Does anyone know where this
farm would have been located? We would like to find the farm as when we
next visit the UK, we would like to come to this area of Wales to find
out where our ancestors lived.
Also, I don't have any more births for this Edward and Jane JONES at
Creccas after Emma's birth, so I have no idea where they may have gone.
Are there any directories of farmers for that era which I may look at to
find Edward JONES? Is anyone else searching this line and do you have
any more information?
I noticed when I was transcribing PARRY-JONES data, that the Parish
Churches did not record the occupation of the bride and groom nor the
father's names and occupation. Is that information available in a book
of Banns? Is there any method of finding out who else attended any of
these weddings? I find it is impossible to go much further back
without the parent information.
Any help will be gratefully received when you have time.
Kindest regards,
