Hello,
I am a new subscriber and would like to know if anyone can do a 1851 Census lookup for me
in Hawarden, Flintshire.
I am trying to find out where the following people lived at the time and being such common
names, it is difficult.
EDWARD OWENS - b. abt. 1805 ( not known where ) married RUTH JONES in Denbigh,
Denbighshire Nov. 30. 1827. I think that they may have been living in Hawarden as that is
where their dau. Catharine Owens was b. 1829. Daughter Catharine was married in Chester
Holy Trinity in 1848 ( I have the copy of the marriage certificate) to David Williams, a
Mariner. Apparently they both sang in the choir of the Chester Cathedral. Family stories
say that the Owens family did not live in Chester but across the border in Wales from
Chester.
Edward Owens was listed as a Publican and I wonder if it was in Hawarden where he worked
and lived during the 1851 Census.
Was a Publican an Innkeeper or did he have a Pub where alcoholic beverages were served -
or was it a combination of both?
