hi natalie,
a very big thank you for your very prompt reply, and help.
the wolfe/duckworth marriage was one I wanted confirming, but didnt like to
put in my e mail in case I scared people off.
I notice that you are in N/Z does this mean you have the pr,s at home? if
this is so, could I be really cheeky and ask if you can see any other wolf,s
there ? in particular I have another thomas wolfe, married a mary price,
now, price being a welsh name, I think they may have married there, they had
children, but also not sure where they were born/christened.
dont suppose I will ever find out where john wolfe b abt 1668 came from, it
was always said that the wolfe family came from ireland, but think this was
wrong, but the thing you said about people coming into wales intersts me, as
in the latter part of the 1700,s they were over the river in cheshire, from
there they went to liverpool, then in more modern times manchester.
but I do feel that all the wolfe,s in the hawarden pr,s will be connected,
as it isnt a very common name in wales,.
thanks once again natalie
regards maggi

Hi,
Details very sketchy in the register - just
26 Oct 1719: Tho. Woolfe & Mary Ithell - nothing else.
Baptisms:
21 Dec 1694: Thomas Woolfe s/o John, Ewloe
2 Mar 1696: - Wolfe -/o John, Ewloe
15 Oct 1699: Margaret Wolfe d/o John, Ewloe
18 Feb 1701: John Woolfe s/o John, Ewloe
31 Jan 1703: Thomas Wolfe s/o John, Ewloe
4 Mar 1704: Saml. Wolfe s/o John, Ewloe
8 Oct 1708: Anne Wolfe d/o John (decsd), Ewloe
Marriages:
3 Jan 1694: John Woolfe & Anne Duckworth, Ewloe (by licence)
Burials:
28 Mar 1704: - Wolfe -/o John, Ewloe
5 Mar 1707: John Wolfe, Ewloe
18 May 1712: John Wolfe s/o Wd., Ewloe
The Woolfe name does not appear in earlier parish register transcripts
which
suggests that must look for the baptism of your John elsewhere - possibly
even well out of the area as Englishmen from places like London,
Staffordshire & Cheshire were encouraged to settle in the area after the
civil war (possibly in an effort to keep us Welsh farmers in our place!).
Hwyl, Natalia
