Hi fellow PARRY researchers:
I have been at my local Mormon Centre for the past few days continuing to review the three
microfilms
I ordered of births/baptisms from the Holywell/Whitford area. I am now in the
non-conformist
registers. There are so many PARRYs married to JONESes that I will be putting the
information into a
database to see where the connections line up. I am glad the Centre is closed today, as
my right
hand and arm are getting pretty sore from all of the writing.
As soon as I have the information in the database, I will send it to fellow researchers as
requested
as an e-mail attachment. The data runs from about 1809 (pretty scant in the early years)
up to
1850. There are very limited marriage records and only a few burial records for Holywell
and Whitford
Parish Church so far.
The non-conformist Churches only appear to have baptism records and I am half-way through
the film.
It seems that every fifth or sixth entry has something to do with a PARRY or an Edward and
Mary JONES
or an Edward and Jane JONES
(potentially Jemima's parents' names). Some Churches had more information than
others. In many of
the non-conformist churches, I have been getting the name of the mother's parents, as
well as the
full address of the child's parents. The PARRY males seemed to like the names John,
Thomas, Robert,
William, David and Joseph.
I have only found one Henry PARRY so far:
Henry PARRY was the husband of Ellen and father of Catherine, who was married to Samuel
WILLIAMS, a
miller, of Chester Street, Parish of Holywell, County of Flint. They had a son, Samuel,
born on July
4, 1836 who was baptised July 17, 1836 by John Lewis Richards, minister in the Methodist
Chapel,
Holywell, County of Flint.
entry no. 967, page 135 FHL Film # 0815980
The PARRY females are mainly named Anne, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah and Margaret, with a few
new names
staring to crop up in the mid 1830's, such as Amelia, Dorothy, Ellen, Hannah,
Catherine, Jennett and
Eliza. I found it interesting that our PARRYs didn't use typical Welsh forenames.
The closest I
found so far was one Merriott.
Thomas, I found a John PARRY married in Whitford, Flint who could be your Henry's
father. The
following is the information:
John PARRY and Elizabeth ROBERTS, ( no marital status given for either), both of this
Parish, were
married after banns on 8th August 1836 by the curate, Jno (John) JONES,
John PARRY (X) and Elizabeth ROBERTS (X)
witnesses William Price(X) and Mary WILLIAMS (X)
marriage #448, Church of England, Parish Church, Whitford, County Flint.
FHL film # 0104826
This film for this Parish Church in Whitford had very few references to PARRYs. It
started in 1825
and ended in 1836, so a search fo the actual records in the Record Office is recommended
if Whitford
is definitely the birthplace and place of marriage of your PARRYs.
More reports will follow over the next few weeks after I finish capturing the
information.
Kindest regards,
