Dear Susan,
I saw your note that you have the 1861 census for Holywell and that you
are prepared to do a lookup.
I am trying to find John PARRY b 1825 Holywell, and his wife Jemima (nee
JONES) b.1825 Holywell or Whitford ( depending on which document I
believe) and their family in 1861.
It looks like they were maried about 1845. The following are the
children that I have found to date:
Sarah Bap Oct 10, 1847 abode Bagillt Street, Holywell, father's occ.
smelter
David b 1851 Holywell (widower in 1881 census)
Edward/Edwin b Dec 11, 1852 Castle Hill, Holywell (my great grandfather)
John born 1857 Holywell
....( gap of info from 1857 to 1875).......
Mary b 1875 Holywell
At the time of the 1881 census, they lived at New Quay, Holywell
(ref FHL film 1342323 PRO Ref RG11 piece 5503 folio 12 pg 18)
also living with them then was their grandson, Robert J. Parry born
1876. I am assuming he is David's child, but still have to confirm
this.
Edward/Edwin was married and living in Gateshead, Durham with his wife
and 2 of his 3 children ( and that is another whole story).
I am currently looking at the Parish Records for Holywell, Whitford and
the area non-conformist churches. I have seen several HoOOSON's in
these records, which generally run from about 1819 to 1837, with a few
going to 1847. Are there any specific HOOSON's you would like me to
look up for you? So far, none of the HOOSON's have married into my
JONES and PARRY clans, as far as I can determine from the records,
anyway, as the mother's maiden name is not always recorded.
Look forward to hearing from you soon. I am back at the FHC in
Etobicoke on Saturday morning, so I can do a lookup then.
Regards,
Anne Clark-Stewart
By the way, I noticed you are in Hamilton. I live in Port Credit, so am
not too far away.
