Hi Diane
Sorry for the delay in replying to you. I have one of those weeks at work.
Thank you for all your help with John. I will do as you suggest and
start by ordering the death certificate from the GRO. I have not had
a look at the census images you sent me yet, but I am hoping to get
some time this afternoon.
On the copy of the marraige certificate the witnesses are Joseph
Bellis and Emma Parry.
Regards
Sue

Hello Sue,
This could be a lead...... obviously it's really really tenuous, but might
be worth a look.
I had a little look on Wales Bmd and crossreferenced with FreeBmd to get a
possible age at death for a john Jones. The two most likely for Whitford
were in 1878, ages 26 and 36 respectively. I then did a search on ancestry
for a john Jones born 1842, (found nothing) and then 1852 and found this;
Holywell
Robert Jones age 40 born Whitford Lead Miner
Elizabeth age 36 b Holywell
Edward age 16 b Whitford
Mary Ellen age 14 b Holywell
John age 8 born Whitford
Caroline age 5 born Whitford
The address seems to be Mitchells Row(?)
I can send you the images off list.
I would start from his death and work backwards. You can put reference
checking on a request to the Gro, so if you ask that he has to be the
husband of Hannah, they should only charge you if the cert has that info.
Marriage certs didn't always have 'deceased' on if the father was dead. I
have many examples of when that has been omitted.
I can have a root around Ancestry tomorrow to see if I can find anything
