Brenda,
I think we have been in contact once before, last March, about our Owens' families. I can only authenticate the fact that my EDWARD OWENS was the father of Catherine Owens who married David Williams in 1848 in Chester. The story always was that Catherine was born in Hawarden, but went to church in Chester where she sang in the choir. Edward Owens is listed as a Publican on her marriage certificate. I have been reading 1851 Census films in the Chester-Hawarden area to try to find him, but no luck yet ( unless he died between 1848 -1851).
On the IGI, and also on the FHL films for the Chapelry of Flint, I found a baptism of CATHERINE OWENS on Jan. 17, 1830 and also a baptism of a JOHN OWENS on Jan. 13, 1828 in Flint. Both times their parents were listed as EDWARD OWENS, a Smelter, and RUTH. The only marriage I have been able to find was between Edward Owens and Ruth Jones on Nov. 3, 1827 at Denbigh, Denbighshire Parish Church. Witnesses were Hugh & Elizabeth Roberts and Henry Jones. There was not any marriage between Edward and Ruth on the Chapelry of Flint film.
Now I have another family connection to a Henry Jones, master shoemaker and Caerwys church warden, who had a daughter Miriam b. in Denbigh who married Edward Anwyl in 1839 and became the grandmother of Sir Edward Anwyl, knighted in 1911. Miriam had a brother Isaac Jones who ended up in Chester, was also a master shoemaker and Councillor in Chester for many years ( he is on the 1881 Census at Curzon St. ). I have looked at one Denbigh film and found the marriage but not the baptisms for the Jones children. I believe that the Ruth Jones above must have been a sister to Miriam and Isaac - there could have been other siblings which I have not found yet. My grandmother always talked about Sir Edward being a 2nd cousin to her mother, so she had to have been related to the same Jones family.
I wonder if Henry Jones was in any way related to your John Jones and his daughter Lucy? It was very usual for cousins to marry.
Getting back to Edward Owens, the only data I have is speculation that the IGI shows - namely that Edward's father was William Owens and his mother Catherine Griffith. They also had children: John bapt. Nov. 24, 1799 in Mold; Edward bapt. Feb. 21, 1802; George bapt. July 15, 1804; David bapt. May 28, 1807; Deborah bapt. Feb. 5, 1809; Mary bapt. Jan. 17, 1812; James bapt. June 29, 1815 - all in Mold, Flintshire. I have not ordered in the Parish BMDs for Mold yet.
If you'd like to hash all this over off the Flintshire site, please email me directly. I would dearly love to sort out my family!

I was kindly helped to find info about the marriage of Lucy Jones and John
Owens December 29th 1847 at Hawarden Parish Church. I know that Lucy's
father was John Jones and that John Owen's father was Edward Owens. I have
tried to follow this through to identifiying the birth dates and parents of
Edward owen's and John Jones but have drawn a blank. I am wondering if
Edward Owens was born baptised in Feb 21 1802, but realise that there were
lots of Owen's and Edward seems to be a commonplace name. if this is indeed
him, then I have his parents as William Owens and Catherine Griffiths. I
wonder if anyone hs made links with this family and whether my info
corroborates my thoughts.... hope this makes sense. Any help, greatly
welcomed
regards
