hi there,
I am researching my husband's family and I have just received a birth
certificate for his Great Grandfather EDWARD PRITCHARD, who was born on 20th
September 1838 at NANT - Y - LLADRON.
This is also the first certificate I have received from wales and would
appreciate some advice - The father was JOHN PRITCHARD, however, In the
section detailing the mother it states "name, surname and maiden surname of
mother" but it only has ANN PRITCHARD with no maiden name., Remembering this
is 1838, does this mean that her maiden name was PRITCHARD or have they
just omitted he maiden name??
The father, JOHN PRITCHARD was stated to be a BUTCHER AND FARMER in NANT- Y-
LLADRON . I have absolutely no idea if this is a village, an area or a farm?
can anyone help me with this or tell me where I could find out. I know no
Welsh (I'm Scottish!) so don't know if it means anything particular in
English?
Basically I am hoping someone can help me discover where I go next?
Thanks for ANY help
Mary
