Hello Gina,
Sorry so long getting back to you on your Dolwyd Bach problem. I said that I
would ask a pal of mine who used to live there if he knew much of the place
but it turns out that he was a tenant only and hadn`t any info to give me. I
have asked another pal who lives in Dolwyd (the hamlet) and he is supposed to
be asking his sister who is 75 and who he thinks may know more . I will get
back to you when he contacts me. He believes that Dolwyd Bach belonged to a
local estate and the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Bryn
Eisteddfod. (More research on that one). Meanwhile I don`t know whether you
have seen the following 1881 census entry for an Evan ROBERTS - Stonemason,
and living in Llanrwst which is just down the Conwy Valley from Dolwyd and
where incidentally his mother Jane was born. He may have changed his job to
Carpenter? Worth looking into I would say as his birthplace fits and he is of
the right age.
If and when I can glean some more info I will let you know the outcome.
Regards,
Keith Roberts.
