Hi everyone
Does some knowledgeable person have any idea whether there are marriage
settlement records for Middlesex and Kent. I have an ancestor George
Bateman Lawley Esq who in 1731 was the acting Undersheriff for Kent. He
married twice. The first time to a Mary Tomlinson of Isleworth with a
dowry of 8,000 pounds in June 1738 and the second marriage in London in
1754 to Anne Maurice spinster. I have the settlement papers from breaking
the estates from George and Anne's daughter Ann Charlotte Leech in 1818
(broken by her husband Thomas Leech by act of Parliament) but i am trying
to find out more info about Anne Maurice, i.e. who she was and how she is
related to Pryce Maurice Esq of Lloran in Wales (mentioned in will of
George Bateman Lawley) and to Theodore Maurice (mentioned in 1818 breaking
of estate settlements).
Does anyone know anything about marriage settlement records?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me
Kind regards
Jo Sunbeam
