Spooky or what? I have lived in Scotland, Turkey, England, Wales, and now
Spain, but it takes a newslist communication from Australia to remind me of
one brief summer in 1975 when my parents lived for no more than few months
at Glascoed farm, Ffrith, near Brymbo in Denbighshire, which I visited on
vacation from university. My folks were in accommodation attached to but
distinct from the main farmhouse, Glascoed Hall, part of which was blocked
off and, as I recall, was alleged to be haunted. I still believe to this
day that I experienced something strange: sheets appeared to be tugged and
the beside light switched on and off. My parents believed there was
something there too and spoke of hearing footsteps on the stairs at night.
Naturally enough, it kindled my interest in the hall, area and history. I
think I may still have some notes somewhere and will relay anything useful
if I can find them in all the packing boxes that we brought out here with
us.

Subject: [DEN] Lookup request 1871 census Glascoed for POTTER
Hello list,
I have a James POTTER born c1824 Much Woolton who died 1878 from a fall in
Ffrith
Colliery. He was at the time working for a Mrs Lynch at Glascoed as
a farmer. The address is possible Lower Glascoed Farm as that is where the
inquriy was held but this is just a guess. His younger children Mary Agnes
and Stephen Charles were both born in Brymbo, Glascoed in 1869 and 1876 so I
am sure he would be in the area in 1871. His wife was Charlotte and other
children were Edward, Christopher and James, all born in Woolton.
If anyone has access to the 1871 census I would dearly love to know of
this family
at that time.
Thank you for your time.
