Hi
I have just joined the list and would appreciate any help with research in Llangollen from
around 1891 - 1901.
My Ggrandparents moved to Llangollen from Birmingham around 1893. (I have a record from
the Llangollen Advertiser dated Oct. 6th 1893 showing my ggrandfather, Frederick William
Crow living at a house called Brynteg which was in an area called Vron Bache or
Bryndedwydd in Llangollen)
In the 1901 Census the family was still in Birmingham and they had a son born in Feb 1894
who was registered in Corwen, Llangollen so they must have moved around this time.
My hope is not to trace the family in Llangollen but to get some idea why they should move
from a place like Birmingham to Llangollen in the first place.
My initial thoughts were that my ggrandfather moved with his job, (French Polisher)
He later moved to a house on Berwyn St in Llangollen and there was a company called Avery
who were furniture makers also on Berwyn st in 1913.
The Avery family also originated from the midlands but I cannot find any Avery's in
Llangollen in the 1901 census.
I have also heard a family story that he worked for an undertaker in Llangollen called
Williams ?
If anyone can offer any help or explain why someone should move from an area like
Birmingham were there was plenty of work to a small town like Llangollen I would certainly
appreciate your comments.
Regards
