My grandad Samuel Warburton, 25 years old, was living at Ivy Cottage,Tilston
in 1922,as a builders labourer.....for a family of Weavers he was closely
connected to. I have a Mary Elizabeth Weaver as a witness at his marriage,
to Mary Fanny Jones,of 26, Long Row, Leeswood Mold on August 3 1922.
Thats all the address i have for him, so far, i've had no luck with his
birth certificate as yet either , though i did try TAT29/27 off CheshireBMD
which they would not send me as the mother's name I had given them (Ginny
Weaver) did not match. We're fairly certain his birthday is Jan 2nd 1986.
We're fairly certain a Jim and Alice Weaver would have been looking after
him and his mother(Granny reared), as we know he was born to unmarried
parents, the other being a Warburton of course. We know Alice would have
been roughly in her 30's in 1922 but I havn't managed to find an Ivy cottage
Tilston mentioned anywhere yet.
Is there some kind soul who can further my research past my grandad who
i still havn't managed to pin down in the 1901 census, nor have i yet
managed to pin down anyone for certain, only a list of possibles.... this is
after 2X£5vouchers, though I hope some of it will prove useful in tying some
family members together?
I'm currently trying to trace family members,as well as those still alive in
Mold and Ruthin, who were related to my Grandmother Mary Jones, who was born
in 1902-4 approx. March 14th in Ruthin. We know she had older brothers and
sisters, namely John Huw,Winifred and Margaret. Her father John was killed
in a roofing accident at an early age, so her mother, who we only ever knew
as Nain Pentre, had to either move in with, or take in a Luther Gunning to
suport the family.
My father did go to Margaret's house in Glanrafon Road, Mold in 1949
as a young boy but can remember only her husband Joe Gittins, and that they
had children called Steven and Myfanwy. Alas, Steven died at a young age in
around 1931 and we dont know what happened to Myfanwy.
