Hello Gill,
I just heard from Maggi and she did not find the marriage
registration....but she said something about maybe they were "chapel"
people. I have written back and asked what that means. Perhaps you know.
What Maggi did find was a Parry family in Llangernyw in 1861 with a son
Richard age 2. She says there were other Parry families but this was the
only one with a son, Richard, age 2.
Llangernyw census for 1861
(There were several PARRY families, but only 1 with a 2 year old Richard -)
Isaac PARRY age 37 blacksmith born Llangwyfan
Mary 31 Llanrwst
Robert 7 Crewe
Richard 2 Llangernyw
Elizabeth 9 months Llangernyw
I have found the family in the 1881 Census (though at this point Richard is
in Liverpool training as a bank clerk).
Isaac Parry age 57, living at Boars Head in Llangerniew, blacksmith and
provision dealer
Mary 50 b. Llanrwst, Denbigh
Robert 27, b. Crewe, Cheshire, England, blacksmith
Elizabeth 20, b. Llangerniew
Ellen 18, b. Llangerniew , pupil teacher
William 16, b. Llangerniew, chemist
Edward 13, b. Llangerniew, scholar
Alice 10, b. Llangerniew, scholar
I am going to look at the 1901 census on line and see if I can find them there.
Okay to fill you in on Richard and Ellen a little more. I think this
information above is most likely correct but I would still like to find the
marriage registration to confirm that these are the right parents.
Richard Parry b.c. 1859/60 in Llangernyw, Denbigh, Wales ~m~ Ellen Mary
Elizabeth Jones b. Mar 31, 1861 in Flint, Holywell, Flintshire,
Wales. They would have married between 1881 and 1883. I have Richard
living in Liverpool in 1881 training to be a bank clerk. Ellen is working
as a waitress in High Street at the Kings Head Hotel in Holywell, Flint in
1881 (providing I have the right Ellen Jones).
Anyway John Norman H. Parry is b. Sept 1883 b. Holywell, Flint, Newmarket
Richard Neville Parry (my grandfather) b. Nov 16, 1886 b. Whitford
Elizabeth E. May b. 1888 b. Flint, Caernzs (?)
Cyril b. 1898 b. ?
I have seen the citation on Richard that you list and wondered if that was
the right one. But there was no wife listed so it was hard to even guess.
If you can look it up that would be great.
If we can determine for sure that Richard is Isaac's son then I would like
to try to go back another generation and find out who Isaac is.....it is
still Denbigh....maybe we can find a birth registration and/or a marriage
registration.
Thanks for keeping on with me.
Cheers,
Linda

Hi Linda-me again
Two possible clues to marriage but only a guess and needs checking
Dec quarter 1882 Holywell 11b, p.413 Richard Parry
March ..1883 holy 11b, p 289 Ellen Jones
I think that their son was registered Sept quarter 1883 Holywell 11b 215 so
gives a clue to when they married. If he was unmarried on 1881 census and
the baby was born 1883 I'll look between these dates
I am going to Mold tomorrow and will check the two marriage references for
you
Just a thought - there were quite alot of Parrys around Llangernyw at the
time and alot of Parry's born there moved near Whitford and surrounding
area.
If you get the certificates it will help give clues to addresses etc
Hope this helps and will do the lookup in next couple of days to
cross-reference for you
