Barbara,
Wow, you must have really done some research to get your line all the way
back to 1710. I don't exactly know where to start to help you as you
probably know how to research better than I do.
Have you found your Mary Mostyn on immigrant records? Those might show
where in Wales she was born. Also her marriage certificate might say
where she was born and who her parents were. That early, these might be
hard to find, but you might try to find churches/chapels in the area she
settled in in the U.S.
I don't know of any Welsh web sites that have records going that far
back. You might try finding other researchers on the Mostyn forum of
www.genforum.com. Also try variations in spelling.
I know Anglesey had some Mostyns and perhaps the Amlwch site might have
records:
www.amlwchdata.co.uk
Also I would try the world connect section of
rootsweb.com. Go to
www.rootsweb.com. In the left column click on world connect. When at
that page, you will see a block that asks if you want a particular
database. Type in WILLPERF. That databse contains a lot of informtion
from the ancient Welsh pedigrees. Once there, search for Mostyn. You
will have quite a jiob because I think there will be a lot of them.
There are numerous Welsh mailing lists, and I am sending a copy of this
message on to a few of them. Maybe someone there will have a clue.
Good luck,
Betty Pace
