Searching for parents of Thomas ROBERTS. b. 1823 and Edward ROBERTS,
b. 1828, both of Denbighshire, Plas Ucha, near Ruabon. Thomas left Wales in 1845 from
Liverpool in the Henry Clay, an old sailing vessel and siled to New York City. One obit
from Iowa newspaper said he was the son of Thomas and Sarah Roberts. Edward followed his
brother in 1866 and they both eventually settled in Iowa. Edward's obit states
parents were Edward and Margaret ROBERTS. I'm trying to find the true parents of
brothers Thomas and Edward. From old letters I have learned ROBERTS families were buried
at Glyntaff Cemetery, Pontypridd. A memory card states: " In memory of Mrs. Roberts,
of Plas Ucha, near Ruabon, who died April 4, 1860, aged 67." I don't know the
name of her husband. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
I have posted this also on GenForum/Roberts/Wales. Nancy Roberts
Hi Nancy,
The answer to this, I believe, came up last year on the Clwyd list :-) .
I think this quote answers you question:
"/I have a will of Thomas Roberts of Plas Ucha farm in the parish of
Ruabon dated 1844. His wife is named Sarah, children Thomas, Samuel,
Edward, Elizabeth, Catherine, Sarah and Mary./"
I've asked the poster to contact you directly.
