Subject: [DENBIGHSHIRE] Old place name - SONTLEY - near Wrexham
Hello,
I hope there is someone with a fair knowledge of the Wrexham area who can
help me locate the now extinct community/hamlet of Sontley. I have google
mapped the area without success.
I have a distant ancestor, Robert Sontley, whose will was probated in 1654,
and he refers to himself in this will as Robert Sontley Esq., of Sontley. He
was probably a reasonably well off farmer / landowner, and one of his
bequests was to the poor of Rhuabon so he may have considered himself as
being of that parish. His address is clearly a Denbighshire one, and in
other records he is shown as being of Marchwiel, also in the same county.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
