Relatively new to Welsh genealogy, but not to others, i have just
discovered that one of my mother's ancestors had Denbigh roots!
My great great grandfather William Jackson (1804-1876) was a railway
entrepreneur as well as a man of industry. He lived and worked in Birkenhead, a
town that he and Mr Laird had much dealings with. In 1829 he married
Elizabeth Hughes (1808-1875), daughter of Lt Thomas William Hughes, a local
businessman and an officer of the Lancashire Militia, and Sarah Johnson.
It turns out that Lt Hughes was a 'collateral' of the Hughes of Llaniog,
later of Kinmel, ennobled in the 19C under the title of Baron Dinorben. I
wonder if anyone could point me to a pedigree of this family in the 18th
Century?
