Thanks again.
That's interesting about the Mum being a monthly nurse, who went to a family
to help out with a new baby.
Could be a relative, I'll look for a link.
Or could be that the 'monthly nurse' also offered discreet accommodation and
care for young women 'in trouble', arriving pregnant and leaving without a
baby. Depends if the same people were still there 17 years later. What do
you think?
We think that the baby was adopted from the birth address, though we don't
know for sure. Adoptions at that time were private arrangements, so there
doesn't seem anywhere we can check.

Margaret

I had some credits left that needed to be used on the 1901 census site,
so
did a quick search of the address in 1901 just to see what sort of a
place it
was then, ie if it was a shop perhaps.
Anyway, the family living there in 1901 were Davies' there were 2
daughters
and the Mum was a "Monthly nurse" and the Dad a "Stonemason." Given
their
jobs I think it was unlikely to have been a shop then, but of course 17
years
later who knows what might have changed. Just out of interest one of the
daughters, Ada Mary Davies aged 19 was born in Bombay Karache India.

Jo
