"My wife's gg grandparents Isaac and Mary BROOK(E)S had 5 children (George,
Thomas, John, Maria and Joseph) baptised in Erbistock Parish Church between 1848 and 1853.
But I can't find any of the family in the 1851 Census. (They're in the 1861
Census) In fact I can't find Erbistock in the 1851 Census.
Have the Erbistock 1851 Census records been lost?
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Hopefully
John Carter"
The 1851 census for Erbistock and Ruabon are available ... but not on Ancestry!!!
I have them on CD but the page with your Brook's is a very 'dark' scan and
only just readable!

Mary Brooks, Wife, 27, Denbigshire
Elizabeth Brooks, 4, [?], Flintshire
George Brooks, 3, [?], Flintshire
Thomas Brooks, 2, [?], Flintshire
John Brooks, 1, [?], Flintshire
The childrens' place of birth in Flintshire is unreadable! It doesn't match any of
the place names they give on the later censuses!
