Hello everyone
I'm not sure if the Denbighshire and Clwyd listservs are connected, are they
separate groups? I signed up for the Denbighshire mail group but was also
subscribed to Clwyd, I recently posted a query regarding my WILLIAMS and
JAMES heritage to the Denbigh list but haven't received any replies at all.
If others are on both lists I apologise for double-posting this message.
Right, as there were no responses to my WILLIAMS and JAMES query, I was
wondering if anyone could offer pointers to some other families in my tree?
I'll start with the EDWARDS.
The EDWARDS family worked on the narrow boats of the canal through the 19th
Century, the earliest member I can trace being Edward EDWARDS, born abt 1803
in Bettws or Llangollen, and his wife Mary (of Ruabon). By the 1830's they
were living in Llansillin, Shropshire, later Bronygarth, where they had at
least 4 children, Charles, Robert, John, and Ann. By 1871 the family were
settled in Froncysyllte, living in Sion Cottages.
Their son Charles EDWARDS (abt 1833-) was born in St.Martin's, Shropshire,
but by 1852 according to his marriage certificate had settled in the Fron
with his wife Sarah JONES (abt 1830 - ) of Llangollen.
Some members probably know of the Froncysyllte site run by Bill Evans:

EDWARDS children appear in a lot of school photographs, as do JAMES family
members, my other Fron family, but I've not been able to connect many to my
tree.
Does anyone have any information on the EDWARDS, or the canal in the 19th
Century?
Many thanks
John
