Hi,
So most of what I have comes from writings of his Samuel Davies' grandson - John Henry
Davies. He is the son of John Davies (eventually emigrated to Canada in 1912)who was one
of Samuel's three sons from his 1st marriage to Jane Wood. Much of his writings
confirm the census info - according to JHD Samuel's father was a John Davies b. 1785
in the Glyn Valley. Samuel was born in LLangolen- I believe the census record you identify
is correct- although JHD puts his birth in 1835, all the later census records consistently
show it as 1839. He was a tailor, so I think the early census in 1851 is also correct, he
moved to London in the 1850's to start a tailoring business- where he met his 1st
wife, later moved to Reading, Berkshire where his son Thomas was born and his 1st wife
died.He then moved to Liverpool where he started a tailoring business and made naval
uniforms for Cunnards and White Star Liner- He had a second wife Emma and eventually 6
more children. There is more inform!
ation- if you're interested I could share it with you.
Doug
