Hello Hilary and Alison
Is this your James Price on the census
1901 assistant overseer aged 69 born Brought married to Elizabeth (note not
Lydia)
1891 he is an accountant aged 59 born Moss married to Lydia
1881 public accountant aged 48 born Broughton married to Lydia
1871 Assistant overseer aged 38 born Moss, married to Lydia
1861 Tailor aged 27 born Broughton, married to Lydia
if you look at the census and send for one of the childrens birth certs it
will tell you the maiden name of Lydia
There is a Lydia Price who died aged 58 in the december 1/4 of 1896
registered Wrexham 11b 184
If that is your lydia's death then James remarried between 1896 and 1901 to
an Elizabeth
If the 1911 census still shows James with wife as lydia then he may have
married an Elizabeth prior to 1861and she is using the name lydia
Confusing I know but hope this helps
regards

Message Board Post:
I have been looking for the marriage of my ggrandfather James Price, born
about 1832 in Broughton or Moss. He was an Assistant Overseer and lived in
Gwersyllt in 1911.
He married someone called Lydia between 1851 and 1861, but although I have
found a marriage to a Lydia Smith about 1860. this man is a ship's
steward, so it is NOT him.
Can anyone help? Hilary and sister Alison
