Hello List
My name is Lynda from Toronto Canada.
I have been struggling to learn more regarding my mother's side of the
family. Of course they have the two "best" Welsh names to research.
Evans and Williams
I would like to post what I have and hopefully I could recieve some
directions from list people.
My Nana (Lizzie Evans) was born (approx-1881 to 1883) (I believe) near
Wrexham. Her mother's name was Jane Eddowes Lloyd.
Jane married a Ted Lloyd (who died young) and they had two sons. Edward and
William Lloyd. (Concerning the Eddowes family...In a letter we found
reference to a village on the opposite side of Wales called Criccelth.)
Janes Eddowes Lloyd married John Evans (whom we have no information on) We
do know that Jane and John emigrated to Denver and died there.
Jane and John Evans had Lizzie (my Nana), Ellen (Nellie), Charolotte
(Lottie), Maybe a Fred or Wilfred, Caroline, Elsie and Harold Evans.
My mother thinks my Nana's religion was Baptise.
Williams Side of the Family
My Grandfather name was James Henry Williams. In Canada, I found reference
to a James Henry living in Ruthlin on the 1881 Cenus.
His father name was John Williams. His mother's name was Elizabeth. We
understand that John died when James Henry was approx. 14 years old. That
would put John's death approx. 1893.
Children that we know of are Albert Williams (He might have been a tool or
dye person), Sarah Ann Williams (she had a son Wilfred, daughter Alice and a
son Charles who died) David Williams (died when he was quite young-20
perhaps) Evelyn Williams, Lizzie Williams.
My grandfather attended The Church of England. Just before an Aunt passed
away, she mention that our forebearers were gameskeepers near Derwen Forest.
I noticed that it seems close to Ruthlin.
My grandparents moved up to Manchester and lived there. They were married in
1905.
I realize my information is not very complete.
Any information or ideas to pass on?
Thanking you in advance.

Dear Jennifer,
Molly made a thorough search of the Wrexham Marriages today from 1908 -
1916, there was nothing. No Roberts with FITZGERALD witness. No FITZGERALD
Marriages.
Were they non-conformists or Catholics?
Where were they supposed to be married?
If non-conformists, then they would be in the Civil marriages.
Sorry, but there was no sign.
Regards,
Mavis & Molly.
