Subject: [DEN] ROBERT JONES IN DERWEN
Hi Listers,
My wife and I are searching for information on her mother's family and we
now
have no less than three Robert Jones in a line, i.e. grandfather, father
and son!
Robert Jones snr was born about 1801 in Derwen and in the census returns
for 1851
and 1871 he is shown as a grocer and in 1881 as a retired grocer
living at "Tyn Y Celyn", Derwen with his wife Ellen.
Robert Jones number two was born in Llanfihangel (a hamlet near Derwen) in
about
1825 and in the census returns he is listed as an inn keeper and
sometimes with 3 acres of land. In the 1871 and 1891 returns he and his wife
Ann are shown as living at the Blue Bell Inn whereas in the 1881 census they
are shown as at his parents -perhaps they stayed overnight as the area
would have been dry on a Sunday.
Robert Jones number three was born in Derwen in about 1855 and is shown on
the 1871
census as living with his parents. He then moved to London and in
1881 the census shows him and his wife Emma living at 106 Cloudesly Road,
Islington. At the time of the 1891 census one of his sons John Edward (my
wife's grandfather) was staying at the Blue Bell Inn with his grandparents.
We know there were other children in these marriages - could anyone help
us to
locate them and also who were Robert senior's parents?
Best regards,
Courtnay Sayer
