Hi Listers,
I'm new to this list, so here's what I'm looking for:
My gg Grandfather John James ROBERTS, is listed on the 1881 Census in
Salford as place of birth DENBIGH. It doesn't specify if it means the town
or the county.
Someone on the Clwyd-L list kindly looked at the Denbigh parish records for
me, to try and find his baptism - no luck.
John James' father was Samuel ROBERTS - a gardener, according to John James'
marriage certificate. John James ROBERTS married Elizabeth DROUGHT, in
Manchester in 1861 age 21. (therefore, born circa 1840). His wife Elizabeth
was born in Kings Co. Ireland.
Can anyone give me some idea of where to try next? Is there any likely
place that Samuel would have worked? Should I stick with Denbigh, the town,
or try further afield?
Could anyone give me details of where I could find a map showing parishes in
Denbighshire in the mid 1800's?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance
