Thank you Dick, for your research into my strange name. I also had this
response from Bryn Ellis, which gives an explanation of the origins of the
name:
"The more usual spelling is Douce, and I have always thought it to be a form
of the French 'doux' = sweet.
The name appears in many early Welsh parish registers."

NB One male and one female!
(There was no Douse SMITH listed in the British Isles.)
Also found a Douse WILLIAMS by searching for "Douse Williams" i.e.
using inverted commas in Google. >>
