The Aled Registration district is entirely in Wales. It is made up of the Abergele and Colwyn Bay areas, with district numbers 11b (1935-46), and 8A (1946-74).
The district number is confusing though! The Chester Registration District was 8a (1870-1946), and 10A (1946-74).
Unfortunately when they renumbered all of the districts they chose too-similar a system, so typical of civil service decisions?

Hi
Does anyone know where this Aled is?
It is the district given on a 1970 Death reference and the district# is 8a, which I thought was Cheshire.
Any ideas?
regards,

I am looking for any details of my grandfather - William Henry Davies. He was born in 1898, but I don't know where. He married my grandmother who was a widow, in 1920 in Manchester. Two children were born to my grandparents, my mother in 1920, and my uncle in 1923, both were born in Wales. However, at the age of 26 years old William died, he was a miner at the time of his death, and lived at 22 Wind Street, Porth,Rhondda,South Wales. My grandparents at the time were lodgers of Arthur & Blodwen Hillman. Being so young my grandfather would have had parents, who would have been mourning him, but I have no idea who they are, or even where they came from. I do know that William was buried in Trealaw Cemetery. If anyone has any information at all on my Grandfather, it would be very much appreciated.

Hi Listers
First time I have had to check anything in Wales before so hope I am the
right site.
I have a Will written in England in 1835 and Proved in 1836.
It says in part ""I give and bequeath all my part share or interest of in in
that Messuage or tenement Farm and Lands commonly called or known by the
name of Lletty wen in the parish of Bryneglwys near Wynnstay in the County
of Denbigh and all other my Lands and Tenements in the County of Denbign to
my wife......"
Is there anyway I can find a list of land owners in that area or who he
would have been in Partnership with.
I looked up Messuage and it says a Manor, not sure if that is the meaning in
Wales.
It is a surprise that he would have had property as all the family are from
working class"
Any help or clues as to where I go next would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Lynne

Hello Lee,
I am also researching this family and although I have the marriage Certificate for Alfred and Sarah it still does not give me a father. This is the most frustrating family. I also keep sending for marriage certificates in Wales and they are usually the wrong ones. Do you have any ideas? and what part of the family are you from.?
If you would like a copy of the certificate contact me

My g-g-grandparents were Richard and Catherine (JONES) WILLIAMS. At the time of their marriage in March 1832, Richard was living in the parish of Llanrhychwyn and Catherine was living in Eglwysbach. They were married in Eglwysbach parish.
Other than a birth date of 1808, the above is about the extent of my knowledge regarding Richard. However, Catherine's parents were David and Jane JONES, born in 1772 and 1774 respectively. Their residence is listed as Goelas Fawr - and Goelas Fach - in the Township of Maenan, where they had the following five children:
Bennet, b. 1812
Catherine, b. 1810
William, b. 1805
Thomas, b. 1798
Jane, b. 1796
In addition, the parents of David JONES appear to be William and Cathrin JONES. Jane's parents are likely Owen ROBERTS and Catherine THOMAS.
David and Jane, along with three of their children (Bennet, Catherine and her husband Richard, and William) emigrated to the United States in 1832. Thomas joined them in 1842. The daughter Jane also emigrated to the US, date unknown.
Is anyone able to relate to this family? I would be pleased to exchange information with them. Also, can anyone supply any further information on Goelas Fawr/Fach? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Regards,
Dave Williams

Hi,I have just noticed this thread. The two brothers who had the fruit shop were Wallace Roberts (now passed away ) and Len Roberts.Wallace son, Steven lives in the town and is now retired from being a senior lecturer in the Horticultural College at Northop, Flintshire. At the rear to the site of the fruit shop is a cottage owned by Steven, together with a Hairdressers and Chip shop all owned by Steven.Len lives in a house he had built on the site which used to be the market garden. This now has approx 20 houses on it.Len has a daughter living in Ruthin. I think the Inn which was sited on the corner was taken down when the road was improved. I believe the Inn is in pieces in the museum in St Fagans, Cardiff awaiting to be reconstructed. My father and wallace were very close friends

Sorry that was no help but i couldn't find a marriage between a Barbara Ann Hughes and a Robert Jones. However, there is a possibility that Myfanwy had a middle name, Gwenfron but may have been registered as Wenfron in 1877 in Ruthin. I noticed that in 1881 she was down as Myfanwy G Jones with her grandmother and I assume her uncle, Robert Hughes in Llanrwst.
I found Elizabeth in 1871 with her husband, Charles Hughes and 3 daughters, including Barbara Ann and one son living in Little Bridge St. Llanrwst. Charles was an ironmonger and born in Flint. It also says that Elizabeth was born in Caernarfonshire but,as the two counties are not far apart, she could have been born in Llanrwst.
Got to go now. Will do some more digging soon.
Mike

Thanks for your reply, I shall have to look into this, however I have Arthur Idwal, LLewellyn & Goronwy's mother as Barbara Ann Jones (nee Hughes). I have a copy of the marriage certificate and Arthurs & Goronwy's Birth certificate which both show her maiden name as Hughes which also ties in with Myfanwy on the 1881 census living with her grandmother Elizabeth Hughes.
Do you have any relation to this family, my husband is the great grandson of Goronwy Owain Jones.
Cath

Just browsing through message board, saw your connection. Townley Rigby Jones Married Elizabeth Hughes 1832. He was the father of my Great Grandmother. There seem to be many many Offspring to these families! Not sure about The" Rigby " connection, guess these "middle " names came into Jones family from the Female side marrying into " Jones "

Hello,
My name is Keith Sharp. I live in Auckland, New Zealand. I have just come across your message posted five years ago looking for information on Thomas Henry Roberts and Margaret Lilian James of Froncysyllte, Wales. These are my great-grandparents, through my grandfather, Frank (Francis John) Roberts. I am assuming that you are a descendent of Norman Roberts.
Thomas's second wife that you mentioned was called Clare (don't know her maiden name as yet) and they had three children called Roland, Lena and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth (Bett) died last year but Lena (known as Lyn) is still alive in her late 90s and living with her daughter, Jill in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England. Roland is also deceased.
Frank had two children, Leonard and Doris (my mother). Leonard emigrated to Canada in the late 1950s with his wife, Barbara (both deceased) but their sons, Gary and Alan Roberts are still living in Ottawa.
I look forward to hearing from you to exchange any more information that we may have.
Regards,
Keith Sharp.

Hi All,
I have finally broken through one Wall that kept me there for over 20 years.

were married in 1759 and their family of four:
Thomas born 1759,
William born 1761,
Henry born 1763 and

Thomas, a Stone Mason, married Catherine Ellis at St. Peters in Carmarthen
and moved to Lancashire where they had five children:
Louisa born 1799, bap. Manchester, Cath.
William born 1801, bap Manchester, Cath.
Samuel born 1803, Kirkdale, bap. Manchester Cath.
Elizabeth born 1803 Kirkdale, bap. Manchester Cath. (Twin)
Thomas bap. 1805 Manchester, Cath.
Thomas, their father died in Lawton St. Liverpool 1805.
Samuel a Shoemaker married Jane Tyrer at the Melling Chapel in Melling. They
lived in Maghull.
They had four children:
Mary born 1826 Maghull
Catherine born. 1828 Maghull
Alice born 1832 Maghull
William Ellis Edwards born Lawton st. Liverpool, 1842 bap. St. Peter's

Grandchild Cooper Crawford Edwards, Mother Catherine, father Cooper
Crawford.

Ancestors ?
