In the 1901 census the family at living at Ffrwd Farm: Thomas Davies (35, Brymbo, miner) & Eunice Davies (33, Broughton) with children Emma (9, broughton) and John W (5, Broughton).
For Lena's birth:
1903: Lena Davies born Wrexham (WM/117/27) [NWBMD]
1903 Q1: Lena Elizabeth Davies born (Wrexham 11b 278) [GRO]
Finding the marriage is not so straightforward as many of the records after 1901 are not yet available on line at sites like FreeBMD and NWBMD

Any one got Lena Davies, born about 1903 in Wrexham area, probably the Green, Brymbo. Her mum was Eunice, nee Jones and her dad was Thomas. She was my dad's half sister and she may have married a J Richardson and moved to Nottingham but I can find no record of her marriage.

I don't know how many Mathias families there were in Brymbo but my great grandfather was James Mathias born 1869. I have traced the Mathias line back to Mathias J Mathias born 1650 in Brymbo. I do not have details of siblings however. There may very well be a connection.

Hi there my mother was born at 13 Crosses Row, Cerney, Broughton, Wrexham, Denbigshire - this is taken from her birth certificate in 1916. Her name was Annie Williams, her father was John. He was a miner, as were most of the people living in the area I believe. They must have been neighbours - possibly living next door.

Thanks to all who replied about the Ruthin Union Workhouse
I have found a possible match on the 1881 census information. Ellen Evans
aged 11 and David E Evans aged 13. Now need to find more information to
clarify that I have actually found what I am looking for. Not sure what to
do next though as I have no idea who their mother or father is.
Regards
Nicola

Hi Everyone,
I wonder if anyone recognises this family.
George EVANS born about 1780 in Denbigh, occupation carpenter and cabinet maker. Married to Mary (I don't have anymore about her her apart from an approximate date of birth, 1796). Their daughter Margaret, born 1817 in Denbigh, married James Thomas SHIPLEY in Liverpool in 1839.
If anyone recognises this family, I'd love to hear from you. I haven't been able to pin point the Evans in Denbigh at all.
Kate

Hi Nicola,
A few years ago I was told that there are no records from the Ruthin
Workhouse. My Taid lived there in his very early years with his sister and
mother.
