The only James Kaye I could find in Scotland in 1851 was aged 11 which would have given him a birth year of 1840 in Glasgow. He was an errand boy at 15 McAlpine street, Glasgow. There are far too many Elizabeth J Evans in Wales to decide which one was which.

Thanks so much, however my James Kaye was born in Scotland 1842 and Elizabeth born Wales in 1846. James first child was born in England in 1864,Ernest E. 1866,then Edith Adelaide Isabella 1868. Found on census first time in Victoria, B.C. Canada 1881. Last time on a Canada census was 1901 then I find Ernest in the States in Washington and then in Oregon. He had two children Tom born in 1904 and George born in 1907. From there I cannot find anyone else except the Daughter of Edith my Great Grandmother born in Victoria, B.C. as Beatrice May Summerfield, Edith remarried a man names Hugh Whitney. Beatrice's Sister Evelyn Whitney Ramsey died in Orange County California. There was a half brother named Hugh also I cannot trace. I believe Beatrice and Evelyn are both Summerfield's but Evelyn took the name of Whitney.

Found a James Kaye, born in Scotland but living in England in 1871 and aged 9 at that time. His mother was a widow named Essy Kaye and he had 6 siblings. They lived in Hacney, London.

Hello there. Yes the correct spelling is Croesnewydd. The old red brick workhouse building is still there but now has new bits added onto it so the frontage is obscured. I remember when my sister's child was born there in 1961 and I told my teacher and she then went on to tell the class about what life was like in olden days and how poor children may have had to go to the "workhouse".
That was when teaching wasn't so regulated and teachers were able to wax lyrical about things and hold their classes spellbound in true Miss Jean Brodie style.

Hi,
Just been away for 10 days thus the reason for delay in responding.
The Green, Henllan is directly east of Henllan, and is a small settlement on
the main road between Trefnant and Denbigh. My wife's father was born there
in 1900.
Best wishes,
Keith
I live not far away from The Green and go that way often

Don. Would there be another Samuel Moss born around 1811 in Denbigshire other than the one you posted. My William Moss was born 1841 ( according to census) At the time of William's marriage in 1871 Samuel was a grocer while William was a lead miner at the place of his wife residence in Montgomeryshire. The name of Samuel's daughter made me think we were related as Wiliam's third daughter was Dinah.
Would the 1861, 1851 1ne 1841 census for Denbig give us a more idea of family relations ?? Any suggestions, most helpful. Joyce in Canada

sorry I did not respond to this sooner William.
Re the Platts - I do not have a lot of information but what I have follows.
Anne Platt was born in 1829 in Bilston Staffordshire to a William and Eleanore Platt. She married Samuel Buffey in Bilston in 1847.
I do not have her in any census at the moment.
In the 1871 census Samuel Buffey is living in Cefn Rhosymedre Denbighshire Wales- Ann is dead by this time (feb 1871)
Ellen Platt Buffey is listed in the Cefn with Samuel with a date of birth abt 1795 and she identifies her place of birth as Cefn Rhosymedre Denbighshire Wales- dont know if this was a mistake.
On the same census a Sarah is listed with a DOB of abt 1831 also with a Place of Birth as Cefn.
I suspect that this is a daughter of William and Ellen also though cannot find a record.
The only marriage I can find for a william Platt and an Elle/Eleanor is in 1821 in Bishopsgate, London.
dont know if this is any help to your research- happy New Year from Australia
Sahron
