It's still there but is now known as the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
The site once housed the Wrexham Workhouse and also the main railway yards were adjacent to the hospital.
http://www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/community/wrexham_hospital/location_map...
I believe that the maternity section of the hospital was on the northern side of the site?
The correct spelling of that part of Wrexham is Croesnewydd. ("Croes" = "Cross", "Newydd" = "New" so it would translate as "New Cross").
If you type this spelling into Google it should give you several links.

I have a lot of details of the moss family of East denbighshire including samual moss who is related to another branch which I have been investigating. They were mostly lead miners who settled in the area in the later part of the 18th century. If you are still looking for further information let me know and I will put the details together.

All I can say is good luck, I too have been research family in Wrexham.
Some records found, if they died in Wrexham you will find many burials at Wrexham Cemetery which is on line
The Register Offices of North Wales hold records of local births, marriages and deaths, back to the start of civil registration in 1837.
I dont have access to records other than the internet,
I suppose you have tried Rootsweb and Familysearch.
lots of records on them.

Hello there.
I have only recently joined up to the list myself and have not replied
before so I hope I am approaching it correctly.
My name is Helen Tinsell-Jones and I believe I am a direct decedent of Paul
Tinsell born in Italy whose son Paul was born in Denbigh. I would be very
interested in hearing more from your friend and interested to learn their link.

Hi there, yes we are related- my great uncle was Hector Buffey born in Cefn Mawr in 1900- he married my great aunt Nellie Harry (Webster).
I have been looking at the Buffeys only recently as an 'extension' and do not have a lot of information.. Ian on this site has been most helpful with your local records which has been great.
Re Anne Platt - no i do not have her on a census but then with this family as said I have only really just begun. i have her mother on the 1871 Wales census as Ellen Platt Buffey b abt 1795 Cefn but no more detail.
I am not sure of annes birth date - there is an Eleanor Platt and husband who had an Ann in Bilston in 1829 - but there is an Ellen Platt who had an Ann in Cheshire in 1830. There is also an Ellen Platt who was born in Cheshire in 1795.
sorry i am not much help William- wil let you know if I find anything else out- say hello to my cousins ! ( I'm in australia if they are wondering!)
regards
Sharon

I have just joined this list as I am trying to help a friend in Adelaide to
research the TINSEL/TINSELL/TINSELLO/TINCELLO family.
This is what I have found so far:-
In the 1901 census, I have
Paul Joseph Tinsello, aged 41, born Denbigh, a Plumber
In the 1881 census I found:-
Paul Tinsel, aged 21, born Denbigh, a Militiaman living at "23rd Brigade
Depot" Hightown Wrexham
Margaret A. TINSEL Serv U Female
19 Denbigh, Denbigh, Wales Gen Servant Domestic, living at 19 High
St
Denbigh
Also, Living at 38 Castle Hill, Denbigh
Paul TINSELL Head M Male 62 (B S), Italy
Labourer General
I haven't been able to find any of these births, or any records of them in
other censuses.
If anyone can find any of them, would they please let me know.

Chris

Hello Chris
Paul is in Wavertree in 1891 with wife Johanna and children. Let me know if
you would like me to send you a copy of the census. She was an O'BRIAN from
Ireland.
There's quite a few born, married and died in Denbigh on the North Wales BMD.
Regards
Maggi
