Hi Heitch,
I am sorry, but my wife knows very little of the Hughes family, apart from Owen Thomas who married Margaret Ann Heylyn 17 April 1899 and lived at Canal Terrace in Froncyssllte.

Hi Brian, does your wife know anything of Hannah?
Since I last posted we`ve established that they, (Hannah & Sydney), moved to Chirk. Hannah drowned in the Shropshire union Canal in 1938, aged 44.

Hi Joyce,
The place you are looking for is Maeshafn, a small village near Llanferres, between Wrexham and Denbigh.
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=320500&Y=360500&A=Y&Z=4
It was, at that time, a lead mining area.
In the 1841 (HO107/1405-5/22/12) & 1851 (HO107/2504/111/13) censuses, William is living in Maeshafn with father Samuel and mother Catherine.
The early censuses suggest that William was born in 1838.
He had siblings Robert, Eliza, Francis, John, Enoch, Dinah (or Dianah), Edward and Noah.
The IGI gives some early information:
SAMUEL MOSS married CATHARINE PARRY on 9 MAR 1822 in Llanferres Parish Church
ROBERT MOSS christened on 1 FEB 1824 in Llanferres Parish Church
ELIZA MOSS christened on 13 NOV 1826 in Llanferres Parish Church
FRANCIS MOSS christened on 23 MAR 1829 in Llanferres Parish Church
JOHN MOSS christened on 11 DEC 1831 in Maeshafn Calvinistic Methodist Chapel
ENOC MOSS christened on 23 JUL 1834 in Maeshafn Calvinistic Methodist Chapel
DINAH MOSS christened on 23 FEB 1837 in Maeshafn Calvinistic Methodist Chapel
Someone in Flintshire is searching this family and they appear on their "The McHugh Family Tree" on Ancestry!
Ian

Hi Denise,
You can buy all Welsh censuses, 1841 to 1901, on CD but they are usually just scans of the original census pages without an indexing system. So you have to go through it, page by page, until you find what you are looking for! (There is no 1841 census for Ruabon parish though, it is one of the 'lost' censuses!)
If you want to do the job properly you need to sign up to an on-line service like Ancestry. They have not just the images but the indexes as well. They give you 'full' access to the all censuses from Wales, England, Scotland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Island. You just type in the name of the person you are looking for and up comes the census image (hopefully!!!). They have lots of other resources as well! There is an Australian site http://www.ancestry.com.au/ but I'm not sure what you get for your subscription there (but it's not cheap!)
If you are looking for local information, like parish registers, cemetery records, etc., these can be purchased from the Clwyd Family History Society http://www.clwydfhs.org.uk/ which is based in Cefn Mawr (just a few minutes walk from where your family lived!!!).
I can't see any link between our trees. You have to remember that the surnames in that are tended to be the standard Welsh surname of Jones, Davies, Edwards, Evans, Roberts, etc. and there were lots of them!!
Ian

WOW,
Thank you again Ian, I have purchased Ishmael's Marriage certificate when he was living in Toxteth Park Lancashire.
I really appreciate all the help you have given me.
Can you buy the Census records from Wales? or are they on the internet? Thank you again. If this is your family let me know and I can give you more up to date records.

This link might be of interest to you, it is the Plas Pigot as it is today. Where you can see the new part there was originally the main part of the house, this was knocked down in the 1970's I think.

Hi, Im not sure if we're talking about the the same Plas Pigot or not. I was partly brought up in the Plas Pigot as a child and it is a club \ pub on the Ruthin Road in Denbigh. All reports Ive read about it suggest it is the place we are talking about here. Im not sure about the touring caravan comment, I will check with my Dad who still visits there each month.

I have two Edwards lines, one from Chirk/St Martins and one from Llangollen/Garth. There may be a couple of strays later living in Cefn Mawr though. I did not find any connection with the Edwards' family linked to the Parkers.

Just wondering if anyone can advise us if the Ormond Continental Hotel is still in being - 1901 census lists it as being in Abbey Road
TIA
