Hi Ian
Joseph Taylor was born in Hampton in Arden in Warwickshire but settled in Birmingham.
Possibly in Nottingham around 1884 when James a son was born. Certainly back in Birmingham when my Grandmother was born in 1891.
His trade as stated on the 1891 was a "Bricky", but was known to do general labouring, and then later worked for the Birmingham Corporation.
Thanks
Bee

Hi again,
Do you know where Joseph and Jane lived when married? I can see
possibilities in Croydon and Birmingham. Also what was his trade?

Hi list
Any comments would be welcome on my dilemma
My Gt Grandmother Jane Ellen Thomas was born or certainly registered in Wrexham in 1860. Unfortunately for me there were two Jane Ellen Thomas' born on the same day !
One was born to John & Mary A Thomas formerly DODD on 5th March 1860 at Cerney, Broughton in the Sub District of Wrexham and the other was born to David & Elizabeth Thomas formerly GIBSON on 5th March 1860 at Williams Court, Mount Street, Wrexham.
What I have never found is her Marriage to my Gt Grandfather Joseph Taylor hence no Marriage Certificate so no named father. I have found John & his family on the 1871 Census for Denbigh but as yet not David & his family.
Any suggestions to prove which Jane Ellen is mine ?

A friend in Wales did the following look-up (census & BTs) for the
parents of my Master Mariner John Williams (b.Llanddulas 1822,wife Mary
Jones b. Anglesey). John himself would have been 18-9 yeas old and away
at sea, so he would not be shown with his parents. There is the strong
possibility that his father (John Williams also) would have been at sea
in 1841--John Sr.'s wife was named Mary also. This is probably the
family left in Llanddulas, Denbighshire. The 1851 Liverpool does
establish that the family had a daughter named Elizabeth (age 15 in
1851).
I wonder if anyone connects to these two families from Llanddulas, Denb.?
One of them represents the parental family of my Master Mariner John
Williams (b.1822, parents John and Mary Williams). I don't have the 1851
census.for Llanddulas.
1841, Tai'n y Llan, Llanddulas:
Mary Williams, 45
Jane Williams, 15, miliner's (sic) ass (i.e. assistant)
Mary Williams, 13
Elizabeth Williams, 6
William Williams, 3
(All born in county)
The baptisms of the other children in this family read as follows:
May 22nd 1825: Jane, daughter of John and Mary Williams of Tyn (sic) y
Wal,
Labourer [he might have later gone to sea]
June 8th 1830: Mary, daughter of John and Mary Williams, Llan (i.e.
Llanddulas), Labourer
September 29th 1837: William, son of John and Mary Williams, Tan y Wal,
Mariner
However, the 1841 census turns up an additional family, but not as likely
since there are no Edwards in my later family at all.
1841, Tai'n y Llan, Llanddulas (the same street)
Mary Williams, 45, Pauper
Ann Williams, 12
Edward Williams, 10
Edward Griffith, 15, Lodger
John Griffith, 8, Lodger
(All born in county)
These children tie up roughly with the following baptisms:
September 16th 1827: Ann, daughter of John and Mary Williams, Llan,
Labourer
July 25th 1830: Edward, son of John and Mary Williams, Llan, Labourer

Yes, Ind is independent. Perhaps he was a pauper, he seems to have been only young though ...
I will have a look in the 1841 Lancashire census I have and see if it tells me anything more.

Lee, Thanks for that. It is a male referred to, his wife and children not
labelled but his mother labelled "Ind" - independent?. My looker upper tells
me this is the only entry of a "P" in the sample that he's seen. His
suggestion is Pauper or any other profession beginning with P. I know he
stated on his daughter's 1847 marriage cert that he was a shoe maker, Bill.

if any kind soul who was going to the Denbighshire record office could do a

of my great great grandfather Thomas Edisbury in 1813, or maybe 1812.
I would be interested to hear from anyone researching the same family or
with any info on any of the Edisburys.
Kindest regards

Do you have the census info? If not ,I could send it. What was your great
