Thanks Dick,
I wouldn't have known that 'Royton' was a house/farm, but it makes sense
now. I'll have to find out more info on the place.

Gday List,
After the release of the 1901 census, I was (finally) able to find my
ancestors that resided in the Cheshire area.
On the census, it list a John ALLINGTON born 1860'ish and list place of birth
as being Denbigh Brymbo, who married a Mary Elizabeth ROBERTS born 1864 and
list her place of birth as Summerhill.
I am posting to the list with HOPE (fingers crossed) that there may other
Allington/Roberts reseachers out there in this cyber world.
FYI..My Grandmother Bertha Annie Allington, daughter of the above, came to
New Zealand for a short holiday in the early 1920's. BUT because she suffered
from severe sea sickness from the voyage, she never return home <sad>. I have
had the enjoyment in contacting living relatives in the Cheshire area, and
BOY than they drink........
All the best for 2002

Hi Dick,
Thanks for the info. It wasn't Manchester I'm afraid, as they were all Welsh
and all born near Wrexham. The only other Royton I've heard of is near
Conway? Correct me if I'm wrong, but still Denbigh? This seems to be too far
away, and Job was born in Eyton, near Holt.

Hello List,
I'm new to the site and I'm researching my family of NEWNES/NEWNS & TILSTON. John NEWNES (father Samuel) was born in c1825, Hannah NEWNES (nee TILSTON - father John Paul) born c 1825 and their children, John, Joseph, William, Edward, George?, Job (my gr.grandfather), Sarah & Fanny. All born between 1851 - 1868 in or near Eyton. John & Hannah married in 1846 at Gresford Parish Church.
The 1881 census states they were all born in Royton, but I can't find this on the map? Job's birth certificate states he was born in Eyton. Later the family moved to Cockbank.
Anyone heard of Royton? Also on a marriage certificate, column 7 asks for 'name & surname of father'. Hannah's marriage cert. is the only one not showing her fathers surname.
It just states 'John Paul'. Anyone know why? Deliberate or a mistake?
Thanks
Jane
I am trying to develop a history of the village Plasbennion near Ruabon. If anyone has any information I could use, or photographs of the village or its inhabitants from the end of last century to present I would be obliged. All photographs will be returned.

Hi Keith---and Doris---I am a descendant of John Yale and Elizabeth Mostyn of
Denbighshire, Wales, m. circa 1561. Actually not Elizabeth, but John's
mistress, (!?) Agnes Lloyd. There is a lot of info about the "Mostyns of
Mostyn", (I don't understand all these terms the Brits use) particularly in
Ormerod's Visitation of Cheshire. Try Walter Gilbert's webpage. It's great.
Also, the book The Yale Family and the History of Wales by Rodney Horace Yale
has a good bit about the Mostyn family. Neither have I heard of Moystn, near
the coast or anywhere else, of course that doesn't mean much, just because I
have never heard of it. I have great luck with the google search engine.
Also, the Manorial Documents Register is a great source. Bye Take care and
stay safe.
Mary in Arizona---hey Keith, a relative in Fla? Ever been to the Grand
Canyon?
Dear Keith,
My son used to work in Jacksonville, now if he was a computer programmer we
might have a chance. I always use Google and have had no results. Moystn is
on the coast just down from Rhyl where our Roberts and Jones's family came
from. I really meant Denbighshire that was Flintshire or is it the other way
around. Thank you.
Doris

Hi Doris,
You wrote:

Internet on Moystn.>
Never heard of it Doris! Now --- Mostyn --- Well you are in a different ball
game now.
Mostyn was a very strong coal mining area until not so many years ago, but
there are people on the list far more qualified than me to talk about Mostyn
which, incidentally, is in Flintshire. Put Mostyn back into Google and you
will achieve better results.
Try the Flintshire list for your Robert ROBERTS at Ysgeifiog.
PS. I know Florida is only a little village so you might know my brother
Steve who lives in Jacksonville! Tee Hee!!
Regards, Keith.
Dear Keith,
Would the Denibigh area include Moystn? There is not much information on the
Internet on Moystn. My husbands gr gr grandfather was a miner in Moystn. His
grandfather and gr grandfather were Robert Roberts. I have info on the
grandfather from the 1881 census and he was 69 at the time. His birth place
was Ysceifiog, Flint. Any ideas on finding him. Also have Jones in the
family, all the easy ones! I have the Jones family licked though. Thank you
Doris Roberts-Florida
Mike,
You wrote on the Wales list (You are really pushing your luck aren`t you!)
<I want to thank all for replying on my request, I now realise why I have
such
a great singing voice, and can drink like a fish, but play lousey rugby
emmmmmmmmm.>
<John Allington's Wife, Mary Elizabeth Roberts b. 1864'ish, states she was
born in Summerhill, which I notice is not far from Brymbo, so the plot
thickens.>
I had a look on the 1881 for you and these seem to be likelies. You mentioned
also that you had found a Mary Elizabeth ROBERTS born Llysfaen. It is a
village on the outskirts of Colwyn Bay, N. Wales and approx 40 odd miles from
Wrexham so I think you should look closer to home ie; Brymbo, Bersham etc.
By the way, I have relations in New Zealand and America so don`t think you
are safe.

Keith Roberts

Gday List,
Hope all had a very merry Christmas and New Year.
After spending several hours on the 1901 census, I have finally able to trace
my family back to Wrexham Wales area.
Hoping someone can assist.
John Allington b. 1860'ish states he was born in Denbigh Brymbo, does anyone
have the 1871 census showing his family members/parents etc.
His wife
Mary Elizabeth Roberts b. 1864 states she was born in "Summerhill" in which I
noticed just on the outskirts of Wrexham, the Familysearch.org lists only 1
Mary Elizabeth Roberts being born Llysfaen, Denbigh, Wales (how far is
Summerhill from Llysfaen).
I cannot find any marriage records.
Any suggestions
Mike
