Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I am brand new to this list and hope that my question is not too basic. I
have just found that my gggrandfather was born in Denbighshire. I don't
know the village but I do know his name is not Welch, so it is likely the
eastern portion of the county. His name was George WHITTAKER. He was born
March 1822 to William WHITTAKER. Both son and father were hatters. George
worked for the hat works in Stockport, Cheshire, England.
I am interested in getting George's baptismal record and have found that the
archives request payment in sterling. They do not accept credit card
payment. Can anyone tell me how to send payment in sterling from the US?
Also, are there any private researchers that do this sort of search?
Thanks for helping me.

Hello Listers
Would SKS be able to do a marriage look up please.
My husband's G.Gparents Alfred Jones and Mary McKie(daughter of David
McKie and Grizzel Richmond, born Kirkmichael, Ayr, Scotland) married
about 1868 at Wrexham, Wales. They came to Australia in 1885 and settled
in NSW. I have no information on Alfred, if somebody could help that
would be wonderful.
Many thanks
Jenny
Hi Everyone.
I wonder if anyone out there could help me.
My Great Grandparents Elizabeth Ann Jones and William Eames were married on 28th January 1903 at Capel Curig. Both were resident and employed (as waitress and gamekeeper respectively) at the Cobden Hotel,Capel Curig.
I am trying to find out more about Elizabeth and her family. She was born around 1872/3,and the marriage certificate states that her father was David Jones, who was a town hall keeper.I know that she had at least two sisters - Mary and Margaret, one of whom married a Pritchard. It is not a lot to go on but any help would be very much appreciated.
Michael Mitchell.

Hi,
I'm in the process of trying to figure out how to do research in Wales from the US (fees, International Coupons), but this is what I know regarding this line in my husband's family. I'm including only the Wales ties. Future generations worked in coal mining and steel in the US. I'd love to hear from anyone doing research on this family so we can stay in touch as I go.
1. Edward WILLIAMS m. Mary CLARK Bef. 1849, possibly around Rhosnesni, Wrexham, Wales; d. probably in Wales. Children:
a. William X. WILLIAMS b. Nov 24, 1848 (possibly Dec 1848) in Wales; d. Feb 8, 1919 in USA.
b. Possibly Jonathan Williams b. Abt. 1838 in Wales d. in U.S.
c. Possibly Samuel Williams b. Abt. 1854 in Wales d. in U.S.
d. Possibly Albert.
(later generations from the U.S. visited a Ray Clark in Rhosnesni)
