Thanks for placing this information on the list. I have just spent
quite some time working my way around the site. It is wonderful.
My gt grandmother, Mary Ellen Davies was born in Brynmawr in 1861 at
Waterloo Place to Joshua and Emma Davies. Emma's maiden name was also
Davies and she had a sister Hannah of whom I know nothing, (yet).
Emma's parents , Benjamin and Margaret (Williams) Davies migrated to
Australia in their late 60's apparently to be with Emma and her family
as I believe Hannah may have died by this time.
Benjamin, Margaret and Joshua (son-in-law) are buried close together in
the Toowong Cemetery, Brisbane Aust. and their daughter Emma is buried
in Toowoomba, a town an hours drive from Brisbane.
Perhaps there is someone who might be connected to the above people,
searching the Brynmawr site.
I wonder if anyone could tell me the location of Waterloo Place.
Joshua's parents were John Davies (tailor) and Margaret (don't know her
maiden name).
Joshua appears in the 1861 census in Brynmawr at Ebenezer Cottages,
boarding with Richard Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas. He he listed as a
tailor.
Emma at that time was living with her parents at Somerset Street
North. I wonder if someone might be able to explain to me the
location of Somerset St, in relation to the map that appears on the
Brynmawr town site.
I recommend that people take John's advice and visit the site he mentioned.
