Dear Listers,
I've just been exploring a wonderful new website devoted to Brynmawr,
BRE/MON. You can access it at
http://thomasgenweb.com/brynmawr.html
The Brynmawr website was created by Jeff Thomas, famous for his popular
"Castles of Wales" website.
Jeff says he created this new website in honour of the friendly welcome he
and his wife received during their visit to Brynmawr in April 2004.
The Brynmawr website concentrates on history and genealogy, in addition to
providing about 50 high-quality digital photos of the town and surrounding
area, and provides probably the best on-line history of Brynmawr and the
community's only on-line genealogy resource.
The homepage of the new website (at
http://thomasgenweb.com/brynmawr.html )
includes links to the following features:
+ History of Brynmawr
+ Photographs of Brynmawr and surrounds
+ Early history of Rehoboth Church, Brynmawr
+ The Nantyglo Round Towers complex (industrial history)
+ Pigot's 1844 directory of Brynmawr and Llanelly Parish
+ History & description of Llanelly Parish Church, Breconshire
+ Monumental Inscriptions, Llanelly church cemetery
+ John J. Thomas of Brynmawr and Scranton Pennsylvania
+ Family of David and Hannah Davies of Brynmawr
+ Connection between Brynmawr and Scranton, Pennsylvania
+ Thomas and Davies surnames from the 1841 census
+ Thomas Baptisms, Marriages & Burials (1790-1837), Llanelly Parish
If you have any interest in Brynmawr and its environs, I urge you to explore
this excellent new resource.
Kind regards,
John
